The Security Center is a historic building located at 147 Carondelet Street, in the heart of the New Orleans CBD along the downtown St. Charles streetcar and only one block away from the French Quarter with close proximity to the Warehouse and Medical districts. Built in the neoclassical style, this architectural gem features heavily adorned pillars as well as the Federal Reserve emblem, denoting its original use as the New Orleans branch of the Federal Reserve Bank from October 1923 to its removal in 1955 to St. Charles Ave. The Security Center was most recently owned by entrepreneur David Oreck, who founded Oreck Corporation through which he sold lightweight upright vacuum cleaners, and used for office and special event space. Blake Pontchartrain provides a detailed history in this article that ran in the Gambit on October 21, 2023.
