JoAnn Clevenger is an avid reader, and one of her favorite writers is Dorothy Parker, an illustrious member of the famous Algonquin Round Table in the 1920s. This group of writers, journalists, critics, leaders, and artists met daily for lunch at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City, and their frequent interactions often led to creative collaborations. Inspired by the gin, admiration for this vivacious woman, and the team at Upperline, JoAnn created a cocktail called the Dorothy Parker that serves as homage to the creative spirit. Be sure to try out this cocktail for yourself.
Also, please read the words by another great writer, John T. Edge, as he shares his memories (and an image) of nights spent at Upperline. s Edge’s newest book, House of Smoke: A Southerner Goes Searching for Home, is available now.
