Fox Business host Cheryl Casone interviewed Michael J. Siegel on September 2, 2021, for The Claman Countdown. In this segment, Casone asked Siegel about what the long-term impact from Hurricane Ida could be for both residential and commercial real estate. While he didn’t want to minimize the damage, Siegel said, he did want to to emphasize how much more quickly he felt the region would recover from this storm. “I don’t think it will change the momentum in the long run at all,” he said.
Hurricane Ida made landfall in southern Louisiana on August 29, 2021, as a Category 4 hurricane with winds at more than 150 mph. The slow-moving storm arrived on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and created a swath of destruction from here through the Northeast. Not only did it flatten entire communities and knock out a major power grid in New Orleans and other towns, it has caused significant flooding in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York and been responsible for more than 50 deaths throughout the US.
