Jonathan Fawer, a Senior Sales Associate at Corporate Realty, recently helped Raising Cane’s find, and negotiate for, four new restaurant locations in New Orleans. Raising Cane’s will be opening new stores in a pair of former Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants at South Carrollton Avenue and Forshey Street and at St. Charles Avenue and Thalia Street later this year In 2015, the restaurant chain plans to open two more restaurants at 4800 Chef Menteur Highway near the new Walmart and in the new Magnolia Marketplace being developed on Claiborne Avenue and Toledano Street.
Rick Fuchs, vice president of real estate for Raising Cane’s, told CityBusiness that “the Baton Rouge-based fried chicken restaurant has been working for more than a decade to come up with the right circumstances and the right real estate for New Orleans. The handful of sites that had been considered were either too small or couldn’t accommodate a drive-through. “We tried in the past to assemble properties on Claiborne Avenue and St. Charles Avenue but couldn’t make them work,” Fuchs said. “With help from the city and our commercial brokers at Corporate Realty, these deals and sites all broke loose in the last year. We couldn’t be more excited.””
Raising Cane’s has 181 restaurants in 17 states, including 13 in the greater New Orleans area and 18 in the Baton Rouge area. Company founder Todd Graves opened the first location in 1996 in a building near the north gates of Louisiana State University.
