Walmart is buying land at I-10 and Bullard Avenue and plans to open a 180,000-square-foot Supercenter in the fall of 2013.

The new store, which will be built on land formerly occupied by Lakeland Medical Center, brings Walmart back to New Orleans East after a six-year absence and helps address the lack of retail and grocery options in that section of the city.
