Susan Swan, SCLS Leasing Associate

As a native of New Orleans, Susan began her real estate career in 1981 when she joined a local commercial brokerage firm. Throughout her career, Susan has gained extensive experience in landlord representation as well as tenant representation. For the last 20 years, Susan has been a leasing consultant and agent for a New York stock exchange traded REIT that specializes in retail properties.

Susan’s varied commercial real estate experience includes sales transactions for raw land, out-parcels, and commercial buildings; tenant coordination and construction; retail and office leasing, as well as shopping center and mall leasing. She has successfully been involved in the pre-leasing of newly developed retail projects as well as re-tenanting older developments.

Susan’s experience involves market research and selection of sites for retail tenants, lease negotiations, as well as marketing of real estate sites for landlords. She has developed a long list of contacts and professional relations with national, regional and local tenants due to the many transactions she has completed, specifically within the Southeast region.

Throughout her career Susan has successfully leased over 5,000,000 square feet producing 1,500 plus transactions valued well over $300 million dollars. Her recent tenant representation work includes a variety of Regional and National retailers for Louisiana and Mississippi such as: The Fresh Market, Dress Barn, Maurice’s, GNC,, Rack Room Shoes, Dollar General,  The Children’s Place, The Buckle, Foot Locker, and Helm Paint.. On the landlord side, Susan has recently represented ten strip centers ranging from 30,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet along with two enclosed mall properties with a total of two million square feet.

Over the past twenty years Susan has been a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) specializing in the retail industry. She has earned a certificate from the ICSC School for Advanced Leasing II and has earned professional accreditation as Senior Certified Leasing Specialist (SCLS).
