Russell joined Corporate Realty in 1982 and was President from 1987 – 2010. Palmer has exchanged his title and position from President to Director. He is able to pursue more regional business and focus on new business development for the firm. Prior to his employment with Corporate Realty, Palmer directed the leasing, management, and property development departments of a local brokerage company. Russell is a life member of the Million Dollar Club of the New Orleans Board of Realtors, and has been a frequent award winner for transactional volume, including the award for top sales volume in the city.
A native of Selma, Alabama, he received a B.A. degree from Tulane University where he served as Vice President of his graduating class and was named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Palmer was also the vice-president of ZBT Fraternity and a member of the basketball and baseball teams. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas with a concentration in finance.
Russell has an extensive background in leasing, managing, developing, investing and financing a variety of real estate projects. His specialty is brokerage of large income properties, completing over $1 billion in sales. He has leased and managed over 20 million square feet of buildings including some of the largest projects in the Sunbelt region. As President of Corporate Realty, Russell was responsible for all financial and operating aspects of the company with approximately 60 employees and several million square feet of commercial space. He has been a principal in the ownership of numerous ventures and product types including office, retail, residential, raw land, recreational projects, and office parks.
Palmer has served on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Jewish Community Center and on the Board of Trustees of St. George’s School and the Institute for Southern Jewish Living. He has been a board member of a regional bank in Texas. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers. He is currently on the Dean’s Council for Liberal Arts of Tulane University.
